Chippenham Carnival returns to our town on Saturday 4th July 2025 bringing a day of colour, creativity and community spirit.
For many generations of Chippenham residents, the carnival was a summer highlight. It was first held in 1923 as a fundraiser for the Chippenham Cottage Hospital. Over time it grew into a much loved tradition and annual spectacle featuring a procession with floats, community groups and local businesses.
While the event hasn’t taken place regularly in recent years, a passionate group of local residents has organised the 2026 revival which promises to capture the magic and atmosphere that many remember. And yes – even the much-loved retro character ‘Chippy’ the chipmunk mascot is making a comeback too!
What to Expect on the Day
Although full programme details are still being finalised with Wiltshire Council (including route confirmations and road closures) the carnival will feature:
- Colourful procession through town
- Participation from local groups, performers and schools
- Local community organisations and clubs showing what they do
- A vibrant atmosphere of celebration and community pride
Whether you watch from the pavement, join the procession or volunteer behind the scenes the carnival promises to be a fun day out with something for all ages to enjoy.
Get Involved!
Nearly 50 organisations and businesses have already signed up to take part and there are still opportunities to support in various ways.
The team would love to hear from local clubs, schools, groups, businesses and organisations. Taking part is a great way to showcase what you do. It’s also a chance to support something that brings the whole town together.
Whether you’re interested in joining the procession, sponsoring or volunteering on the day, now’s the time to get involved and be part of Chippenham’s big summer celebration!
